Meet Nicole R.D.H. B.S. OMT
Myofunctional Therapist, Registered Dental Hygienist
As a registered dental hygienist for 24 years I was frustrated not be able to help my patients who suffered from TMJ pain and tightness. As I began my myofunctional training I realized I was never taught proper muscle function. Having proper tongue position can help with swallowing, speaking, sleeping, TMJ pain, and correct nasal breathing. My mission is to provide personalized therapy services tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual client. I believe that a healthy functioning tongue is essential for overall health and well being.
Why Choose Myofunctional Therapy?
It can help with

Swallowing
Myofunctional therapy can help improve swallowing function by training the tongue to move in the correct position.
Speaking
Myofunctional therapy can help improve speech by teaching the tongue to move in the correct position.
Sleeping
Myofunctional therapy can help improve sleep quality by reducing snoring and sleep apnea symptoms.

TMJ Pain
Myofunctional therapy can help reduce TMJ pain by improving jaw alignment and reducing tension in the jaw muscles.
Correct Breathing
Myofunctional therapy can help improve breathing function by teaching the tongue to rest in the correct position allowing for proper nasal breathing.
Personalized Therapy Plans
We create personalized therapy plans for each client, based on their unique needs and goals. My goal is to help each client achieve optimal tongue function and overall health and wellbeing.
Oral myfuntional disorders that may benefit from therapy.
Tongue tie
60 percent of the population has a tongue tie. Tongue ties do not allow for the tongue to move it entire range of motion leading to tight muscles and jaw pain.
ADHD
People with ADHA are often not sleeping well due to breathing difficulties. They cannot focus because their body and mind have not had the opportunity to recharge with a good nights rest.
TMD or TMJ pain
Temproal mandibular disorder or TMJ pain can be caused by muscles compensating for improper functioning over years.
Tongue thrust
Tongue thrusting can lead to improper speech patterns and disruption of correct swallowing patterns.
Bedwetting
Snoring and Sleep apnea
Other disorders include:
Snoring is a closing of the airway at night due to weakened muscles in the soft palate. When the body chokes it wakes the person to get air leading to poor sleep.
Teeth grinding/clenching
Open mouth posture
Orthodontic relapse
TMJ or neck pain
Upper airway Resistance syndromes/UARS
Headaches
Swallowing difficulties
Low tongue posture
Often children who wet the bed are not able to get into REM sleep because they do not not have proper breathing patterns.
Brain fog/tired during the day
Stuffy nose/Allergies
Restless sleeper
Misaligned or crowed teeth
Thumb sucking
Picky or messy eater
Use of pacifier past 1 year of age
High narrow palate

Myo Munchee is an invaluable tool to help the tongue learn where to sit during breathing and swallowing while encouraging proper lip posture.
